She graduated from UC Berkley with a degree in Political Science in 1957 and in 1982 she received a Masters degree in Education from San Diego State
She worked as a teacher (special education) for the Community College District at the Veteran’s Hospital in La Jolla for 29 years. She also played the Organ for a couple of different churches including the chapel on Naval Air Station Miramar.
She was actively involved in anything having to do with music, she sang, played the piano, recorder and violin. She loved the arts and was proficient in a few languages. She hiked in the mountains in Cuyamaca and Julian and loved to go there to get lilacs in the spring and apples in the fall as they reminded her of her childhood in Michigan. She was a volunteer usher at the Old Globe, she was also a volunteer with the Assistance League among other places. Traveling was a passion, especially internationally, her trips included Mexico and Central America, a disaster in Europe with an infected appendix in Switzerland and a few weeks in the hospital there, and many trips to Asia including a trip to China.
Hildy was preceded in death by her eldest son, Brian Logan. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Schamp (Katy) and Jennifer Medina (Jennie), her son Kenneth Logan (Ken), as well as 7 grandchildren, James Heald (Jim), Benjamin Heald (Ben), Jeffrey Schamp, Kolbe Logan, Jessica Medina, Lydia Logan, and Joshua Medina; and great granddaughter Jayda Heald.
