Georgiana Washburn

​Georgiana was born February 5, 1917 in El Centro, California. She was born to Charles and Carrie (Hinton) Sones, who owned Sones Lumber Co. and were early pioneers in the Imperial Valley. She had an older brother, Myron “Max” Maxwell Sones, who passed in 1985. She married George S. Washburn in 1941. They had their only son, Cary S. Washburn in 1943. Gigi moved to Oceanside in 1954 and worked for the City of Oceanside for 30 years. She was a member of the North Coast United Methodist Church and belonged to their choir. She was a talented soprano singer, organist, and pianist. Gigi was also a member of P.E.O. for over 70 years, Oceanside Women’s Club and Friends of the Oceanside Library. She loved to travel and visited Hong Kong, Australia, and many other places. Georgiana had many friends and was known for her silly humor and her loving and easy-going personality. She had a love of chocolate, which her family attributes to her long and healthy life.

Georgiana is survived by her son, Cary, daughter-in law, Sande, her granddaughter, Molly and her husband Brian, and great-granddaughter, Janie.

​A memorial will be at the North Coast United Methodist Church on July 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

Father, thank you so much for your grace and your goodness, for your message of hope, for this woman’s life and how it was spent, we pray that we might all aspire to live as well as Gigi did. We thank you she is now safe in your presence. We pray that today you fill us with faith and guide us along our way so that we might end up in the same place when it is our time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
