Jack Ray Rainey, 89, of San Marcos, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 8, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Lee and Bunah Patricia (Sisemore) Rainey, his brother Thomas Rainey and his first wife Helen Anita (Crotts) Rainey.
Jack was taken from us far too soon but he lived life to the fullest. He proudly shared the last 25 years married to the love of his life Louise. A planned vow renewal was cancelled due to his sudden illness - but Jack and Louise are bonded for life.
Before retiring Jack worked for over 30 years in construction and later as a business owner. In his early years Jack enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle up and down the California coast, through Monterey, the Santa Cruz Mountains and San Jose. He was a member of the Monterey County Deputy Sheriff's Motor Squad. He was also a member of the Salinas Ramblers Motorcycle Club, where he served many roles, including Road Captain and President. Jack and Louise spent many years RVing. They loved playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Jack was a kind, caring man and attentive listener who loved his family fiercely. His “bear hugs” were felt by all those he loved and his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
Jack is remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife Louise, daughters Mitzy (Tim) Taylor, Brenda Wentzel, Christine (John) Coulthard, Esta (John) Roberts; his stepchildren Patty Lane, Laurie Jeffries, and Henry (Cari) Koch; along with 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A celebration of life is planned for early next year. Donations can be made to Hospice of the North Coast/Pacifica House.
