Janice Marie (Baker) Boden was born in Troy New York on July 4, 1932. She was raised by many kind and loving families, as well as the nuns. She joined the United States army upon turning 18 and Served in the Army as a W.A.C. Upon meeting Robert Boden, they wed and she left the army to be a wife and mother. Over the years Janice has had many professions, as a secretary, receptionist, for attorney’s offices printing agencies, Unites States Voters polling places worker, bartending. None of which were more important than her job as a mother to her children. At times, she held up to three jobs at once, to make ends meet. She had very high work ethics, and was careful to make sure her children did not have to depend on outside sources. Some of her obvious gifts were artistry, poem writing and loving people. She was a great cook and made a mean fudge! Although she was mother to seven of her own she ALWAYS opened her home to others that called her mom, Mrs. B, Mama Jan etc, She had so many nick names from so many people. Her ability to love and to share her life was so beautiful, even more so since she did not have that example of a mother as a child. Jan’s daughter Janis says “If you knew anything about our mother: the loving caring soul she is. Not a person that has met her could ever say a bad word. She would do ANYTHING she could to help anyone and everyone, that means she opened her refrigerator if you needed food, she opened her home if you needed shelter opened her wallet to offer a few bucks but most importantly she opened her HEART and ALWAYS GAVE herself. I LOVE YOU, MATILDA from the moon and back infinity.......” She overcame so many unbelievable obstacles in life that just magnified her dependence and trust in “HER GUY”. God blessed, provided for and protected Janice…over and over again. We all of course will miss her terribly , but if we follow her example of obedience, trust and dependence upon God, we will see her again. Left to cherish her memories are: two sons John (Brenda) , and Michael ( Bruce), Four daughters Patricia, Kathy Rees (Jeff) Janis Santiago (Jim), Julie Alsobrook (Douglas) 10 grandchildren, 10 great children, 2 nephews, 1 niece and 1 God daughter. Preceding her in their death are son Robert and grandson Jeffry John.
