Born July 1, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson White and Jeanette Frances White and the oldest of three children.
Jeanette spent a happy childhood with her family in Burbank, California, which she fondly referred to as the ‘backyard of the Hollywood studios.’ In Burbank, she eventually met Richard, the man who became her husband. Together, they raised two daughters, Anita and Joyce, in Oceanside, California, remaining in the same house for most of their lives.
Jeanette was actively involved with Camp Fire (formerly Camp Fire Girls of America) throughout her life. She began as a member of the organization in her youth and continued by creating and leading groups for each of her two children and her niece. Teaching life and nature skills, camping trips, and organizing service activities for these children was her way of serving the community.
Jeanette also had a career with Navy Federal Credit Union as a loan counselor and service advisor. She took pride in helping military families achieve their financial goals until her retirement.
Jeanette was significantly involved in the youth figure skating community for many years with her granddaughter Brittany, sewing elaborate costumes and chaperoning competitive groups. She enjoyed John Wayne movies, creating Swedish Weave blankets, and cooking large batches of her favorite meals to distribute to family in the area until illness slowed her down.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Haynes; two daughters, Joyce Shaw, and Anita Brooks; two siblings, Eleanor Guynn, and Woodrow White; and granddaughter, Brittany Brooks.
Jeanette was beloved by her family and many others. The loss weighs heavily but is slightly easier to bear as we know she is in the loving arms of God and her parents now.
The family wants to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff for their compassion and kindness with Jeanette during her medical struggles, and Eleanor Guynn, her sister and best friend, for the many early morning and late-night trips to the doctor and innumerable hours of care and support.
