Master Chief Petty Officer Joe Paul Doom, United States Navy, (Retired), passed away at age 79 on October 3rd, 2019. His family was grateful that he was feeling very positive and upbeat the day before and was able to celebrate his 49th anniversary with his wife - while surrounded by all four generations of his family. He cheerfully told us it “was the best day, ever!”.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie, and children; William Doom (Irela), April McCrady (Jeff), Valerie Brown (Bob), Judy Doom (Carolyn), and Dianne Madsen (Matthew); grandchildren Christopher Doom (Bethany), Shaun Doom (Jennifer), Brandon Doom (Angel), Shannon Randall (Philip), Nicholas Brown (Katherine), Jonathan McCrady, Annelissa McCrady, Madeline Madsen and Charles Madsen; and 4 great-grandchildren Ayrton, Ziggy, Ava and Hadley.
Joe served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. During his career, he achieved the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, and served as the Command Leading Master Chief in several commands. He was tough on his crew, tougher on his leaders, and was best known for taking care of his people first and foremost; a couple of his Command plaques were even inscribed to Master Chief Joe “Mother” Doom. He loved to teach, to give advice, and was always ready to listen to a shipmate's problems. Outside the Navy, he loved to work on his cars, especially Mustangs. He had many hobbies to keep him busy, but his first love was always his family. We cherish the time we had with him and will always miss him!
