Jerry was born on September 18, 1932, in Wilkes Barre, PA, to the late Leo Decker and Nelly (Shiner) Decker. Jerry proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force before attending the Academy of Aeronautics in New York to complete his training in Aircraft Maintenance. He then embarked on a remarkable 37-year career with United Airlines. Jerry was deeply respected by colleagues for his reliability, and the calm confidence he brought to every task.
Jerry loved spending time on the golf course, found joy in cooking, and had a deep appreciation for good wine and great conversation. A devoted sports fan, he rarely missed a game, whether it was football, baseball, or anything in between.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean (Manganella) Decker; their children Mark Decker, and Regina Decker, his sister Miriam Chmielewski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Decker, and by his brother, Gene Decker.
