Michael “Mike” Ruprecht passed away peacefully on February 25th, 2025 surrounded by his family. He meets in Heaven his beloved mother, Sarah “Sally” Ruprecht. He and his wife Srirat “Mam” Ruprecht were together for over 32 years.
Mike was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on March 1st, 1957. He joined the Army with his older brother, Dan, in 1975 and was honorably discharged in 1978. He then joined the Navy in 1982, where he served as an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman (AZ1) for 17 years. The best times of his life were spent on the three aircraft carriers he deployed on: the USS Kitty Hawk, USS Nimitz, and USS Midway.
After meeting his wife, Mam, in Thailand, they settled in San Diego, California, where they raised their two daughters, Kristen and Jennifer. He retired from the military in 1999; however, he continued to serve the military as a civilian contractor for over 20 years.
Mike was always a friendly man, striking conversation with anyone he met. Being a true New Englander, he especially loved to talk about his beloved sports teams, the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots. He never let anything get him down and always saw the bright side of any situation.
Despite the medical limitations at the time, he survived being born prematurely at 3lbs and faced measles-pneumonia at 2 years old (which granted him a spot in a 1959 edition of The Saturday Evening Post). He then thrived as an athletic young man skilled in a multitude of sports, including baseball, hockey, football, softball, and running. Mike surpassed all odds after being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in 2012 and given a few years to live. His extraordinary strength and devotion to his family allowed him to defy all medical expectations and live for over a decade with this disease.
He is forever missed by his wife, Srirat “Mam” Ruprecht (née Arpornrat), his older daughter Kristen Ruprecht and her husband Jeovanny Silva, his younger daughter Jennifer Ruprecht-Field and her husband Patrick Field, his three siblings Cheryl Shepard, Dan Ruprecht, and Karen Francis, as well as his nephews, niece, and friends.
A memorial service for Michael will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, CA 92122.
Michael will be laid to rest in Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122.
