Ralph Clark retired Chief Petty Officer E8 U.S. Navy, was 89 years of age passed away on April1,2021 peacefully at his home in San Marcos with his daughter Jean at his side. He was born in Sheridan, Oregon 3/5/1932. While he was in high school, he worked various jobs including, work on his great grandfather’s ranch, doing harvest and cattle round up in Walden Colorado. He worked in the mines in Leadville, Colorado, but was drafted in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at Naval Training Center (NTC) in San Diego, CA. He was in Korea and Viet Nam. He served for 22 years.
He is survived by son Gary Wayne Burton, daughter Jean Nelson and son Coleman Burton, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great greatgrandchildren, and his cat “Isabella”. His children report that “He really was the best father a man could be” Everyone in the neighborhood knew him and loved how friendly he was, there was always good laughs from Ralph. They said that felt lifted up after talking with him that day.
Ralph met Nina Jean his wife in Corpus Christy, Texas. They were both working nights in a laundry. They married and then were transferred to San Diego, CA. They had a great tour of duty in Hawaii, and then back to San Diego where he retired. They traveled together all over the US and back to Hawaii as well. He loved animals, gardening, travel, reading books, newspapers, his cat Isabella, and playing the organ. He also played the organ in various senior living homes for their enjoyment.
Ralph attended the Branches Anglican Church in Vista, CA
He was a loving and principled gentleman who will be missed by all who knew him.
Service to be held at Miramar National Cemetery on June 9th, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.
