He was born on April 7, 1934 in Long Beach, California to Fortunato Gurzi and Natalina Calderone Gurzi, immigrants from Italy. Ralph was predeceased by his parents and 5 older sisters, Mary, Rose, Carmen, Josephine and Catherine.
On October 23, 1955, he married his beloved wife, Millie Anne Brown. Together they had a son and daughter, Dan Gurzi and Nancy Gurzi Stolliker.
Ralph joined the United States Air Force right out of high school. He is a Korean War Veteran. After 4 ½ years of service he was hired by the City of Long Beach Water Department. Ralph began his time with the Department as a laborer. After 36 years, he retired in 1994 as one of the top managers.
Ralph loved to joke and tell fun stories about his military time and the years spent working for the City of Long Beach. He was an epitome of a true family man. His wife and family always came first. Ralph had many friends and relatives. He will be missed by all. He loved traveling, boating, fishing, and doing projects around the house.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Millie Gurzi; son, Dan (wife, Carol) Gurzi, daughter, Nancy (husband, Brian) Stolliker; 7 grandchildren: Megan (husband, Matt) Narin, Kelly Dufur, Cassi (husband, Mark) Harper, Scott Dufur, Douglas Dufur, Diego Moreno, Sean Stolliker; 6 great-grandchildren: Lorelai, Mitchell, Gabrielle, Carson, Cody, Kendall.
A service will be held in Ralph’s honor on Tuesday January 8, 2019, 1:00 p.m. at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego California.
