Richard Benjamin Bergen

Richard Benjamin Bergen, of Escondido, Ca. passed away on Monday, September 21st, 2023 at the age of 83. He was born on March 17th, 1940 in Bellingham, Washington. His family later moved to Southern California, where he met and married Mary Olson, the mother of his 4 children. Richard graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He worked hard for his family and this is his lasting legacy. Richard loved sports, especially the San Diego Chargers. He enjoyed playing the piano and the clarinet. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass was one of his favorite bands. He loved to read and peruse through the Encyclopedia Britannica.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Thelma Bergen. He is survived by his four children and their families, Heidi Dickens, Benjamin Bergen, Katy Bergen, and Honey Estrada, his brother Arthur Bergen, his sister, Marcia Bergen, 4 Grandchildren- Heather, Richard, Holly, and Charles, and 3 Great grandchildren- Jeremiah, Kalani, and Ezekiel.

His children enjoy memories of flying kites, fishing, playing his favorite card game of Hearts, helping them with early math, sitting on his lap to steer the car,(Shhh, don’t tell anyone 😉) and his love of navigating trips with maps (the old fashion kind). Richard Bergen was always a kid at heart. He will be forever loved and missed.
