Richard Cyril Jaszkowiak was born on August 23, 1934 in Bismarck, North Dakota where he grew up and was raised by his Grandmother Mary and his Aunt Christina. He passed away on July 15, 2022 at the age of 87.
He graduated from St Mary's Central High School in 1954. In 1958 he married Joann Moris of Pembina, North Dakota. In 1959 they moved to San Diego, California. They had 3 daughters, Laura, Sandra & Donna.
His first job in San Diego was at National City School District as a landscaper. He worked there for 4 years. After that he was a soil sampler for 3 years. During this time he went to night school at Souther Western Jr. College and graduated in 1970 with an Associates of Science degree as an electronics engineer. Soon after graduation, he was hired at North Island Naval Base in Coronado where he worked as a civilian electrician engineer. He worked there for 30 years and retired in 1997. With his job he traveled all over the world to such places as Italy, France, Germany, Japan and Australia. He had the highest clearance that a civilian employee could achieve on the base.
He was actively involved in Bismarck Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Foresters. He was also involved in both organizations in San Diego as well. His hobbies included gardening, wood working, working on projects around his home, visiting his daughters and grandchildren and his brother Robert.
He is survived by his brother Robert Jaszkowiak and his 3 daughters, Laura Jaszkowiak, Sandra Capps & Donna King and 3 grandchildren, Christina, Daniel & Sarah Capps.
The family would like to thank Amariah Home Care in Chula Vista for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. He lived there his last few weeks where he was cared for by Joseph and his staff. We are greatly appreciative of their care and kindness towards our Dad.
