Robert C Byerly, Junior (Bob) of San Diego, CA passed away on the morning of June 15th, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born on March 24, 1933 in Panama and grew up the small town of Rome near Portland, Maine. He traveled to many locations in the Navy and settled in San Diego. He resided in Clairemont from 1968 until the time of his death.
Bob retired from the Navy as a Master Chief in 1980 after approximately 30 years of service. After a few restless years of early retirement and encouragement from his wife to get out of the house, he worked for Atlas Construction Supply Inc. in San Diego. He retired again in 2014 after twenty-five years.
Bob enjoyed traveling to see family, visiting with family in San Diego and his neighbors. He was always quick with a joke, equally quick with an act of kindness or generosity.
He is survived by his second wife Margaret Byerly. After the death of his first wife Annie, the mother of his children, he married his second wife Margaret. He was faithfully married for over seventy years combined. Bob is also survived by his four sons: Rob 3rd, Ken, Bill and Jim, and one daughter, Mary, as well as two stepsons, Greg and Paul O’Conner.
Bob was preceded in death by his fifth son, John. He was grandfather to seventeen children and great-grandfather to twenty-three and counting.
Bob’s one life regret was not having a son that was a beer truck driver. His love, kindness, generosity and humor will be missed by many. He was a good man.
