William Ferguson was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many. He passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 18th, 2024. He was 94. He was born in 1930 in Greeley, Colorado. Son of William and Margaret Ferguson, he is survived by a brother, Jerry, son, Steve, daughters Susan and Laurie and daughter-in-law Arlene. He had 3 granddaughters; Erin, Sadie and Mabel, two great-granddaughters and two nephews. He was married to Mary Lee for 64 years. She preceded him in death in 2016. Two sons, Mark and James have also preceded him in death.
After graduation from high school, he was awarded a full Navy Scholarship. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he met the love of his life Mary Lee. After graduation from there, they married, and then he served four years in the Navy during the Korean War, most notably as the ship’s navigator aboard the USS Skagit.
William had a wonderful career as an architect, designing award winning buildings throughout San Diego and beyond. He spent most of his career working at the firm Mosher Drew, where he earned a partner position. He loved to paint watercolors of the many trips he and Mary Lee took over the years. Italy, Japan, Mexico and the Southwest were his favorite places to visit. He was also a talented woodworker.
A memorial Service will be held on February 7th at 1:30 pm at the Miramar National Cemetery.
