A native of Philadelphia, she moved to Marina with her husband Ted and daughter Jennifer in 1983. She joined the CHOMP nursing staff as an LVN. While working in the oncology unit and Level 2 nursery, she graduated from Maureen Coburn Church School of Nursing in 1987. She earned her BSN from CSU Dominguez Hills.
She was involved in numerous community activities, including the Monterey County AIDS Project, John XXIII AIDS Ministry, CCHAS, and homeless outreach for the Salvation Army in Seaside and Sand City. She was honored by KSBW TV as a neighbor you can count on by the County of Monterey, the Monterey County AIDS Project and the Salvation Army.
She was known for her smile, hugs and her compassion in her work, her volunteerism and her love for people in general.
She is survived by her husband Ted and her daughter Jennifer (Joshua), grandson Hunter (Abbey), Prairie and Piper, her great-grandchildren and brother Tom (Reenie).
Donations in her memory can be made to Salvation Army Monterey Peninsula Corps or St. Jude's Research Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on February 24 at 2pm at the Salvation Army Chapel in Seaside with a reception to follow in the hall.
