Dolores Manuela Lorigo passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Santa Cruz after a courageous journey with cancer. Dolores, fondly known as Dee, was born in San Jose, CA, on January 12, 1965 and was 59 years old.
Dee was a vibrant and social person, known for her kindness, thoughtfulness and love for connecting with others. Her infectious sense of humor and joie de vivre brought joy to everyone around her.
In her youth, Dee’s passion for music blossomed as she studied and sang opera. Her artistic spirit extended to photography, painting, writing poetry, and singing. Dee also enjoyed watching movies and football, cooking and cheering on the San Francisco Giants. A champion for women’s rights, she actively participated in marches held in San Jose. Dee held a special place in her heart for children, remembering them with cards and gifts on special occasions.
Professionally, Dee’s impact was profound. For 22 years, she dedicated herself to assisting students at San Jose State University, offering invaluable support in her role as a Cashier and then as a Collection Specialist. Her commitment to helping others navigate their financial journeys left a legacy of care and compassion.
Dolores was predeceased by her parents, Christino Lorigo and stepmother, Norma Hansen Lorigo. She is survived by her brother, Chris, in Phoenix, AZ, and other family members, Naida, Sophia, Gavin, Liam and Logan Johst.
Dee’s warmth and generosity touched the lives of many and she will be sorely missed.
