Dwight J. Pascoe of Visalia, California, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the age of almost 95. He was born on February 25, 1930, in Bakersfield, California, where he grew up in the Kern River Valley and the family lived most of their lives.
He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1948. He travelled from the Kern Valley by bus to attend high school in Bakersfield and stayed in dorms then go back home on weekends.
He worked as a cowhand in his early years then served in Korea in the U.S. Army and after returning home worked over 30 years in highway maintenance with State of California Division of Highways, Cal Trans.
He was actively involved in fishing and hunting in early years and helped with the local rodeos in the Kern Valley. He was a member of Valley Christian Church in Tulare, California, for the past 5 years. He loved being out in nature and we took many fabulous trips all over the western US and even made a trek to Florida and Missouri in 2000. Our favorite place was Yellowstone National Park. But anywhere outdoors was where he loved the most, the mountains were his favorite but he also loved going to the coast and collecting shells and rocks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Aubrey Pascoe, his brother Everett Pascoe, sister, Faye Barnes and her husband Lannie Barnes. His first wife Geraldine Pascoe, two step children, Rick Akers and Kathleen.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy Pascoe, daughter Nancy Westfall, son-in-law Paul Westfall and Grandson Michael Baccarini, his step kids Donald Clinton (Teresa) and Sondra Cortez (Joe), 8 grandchildren, Michelle Antes (Billy, Clem Clinton (Annette), Donnie Ray Clinton (Tanya, Amanda Clinton, Astian Salazar (Josh), Michael Salazar, Sierra Cortez, and Benjamin Cortez. Two greatgrandchildren Charlotte Clinton and Ayden Clinton. Many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Dwight loved his family and even blended they were all ours he always welcomed them and loved every one of them too. He only discovered his daughter, Nancy thru Ancestry DNA testing in 2018, but you would have thought he was a brand new father at 88 years old, he was walking on air and she is such a delight and he was very proud of her and her wonderful family too.
The family would like to thank our kids for their support and care given so freely, the many doctors and nurses that cared for him in Tulare Adventist hospital and also Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia. The Hospice folks who were there on his final day, such caring and compassionate folks. And thank you Jesus that he was home for his transition and for every single minute we got to spend with this unforgettable man.
