Gail Helen Burch

Born in Globe, AZ, December 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Glen Peterson and Denise Marie (Letson) Peterson. She was a 1966 graduate of Foothill High School in Bakersfield, CA. Gail attended Bakersfield College where she met the love of her life, Tom.

Gail (Peterson) Burch was the wife of Thomas Frank Burch. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 9, 2022.

Gail was very involved in and eventually employed by Girl Scouts of America. She was part of the heart and soul of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for over 31 years. Gail was actively involved in Bakersfield East Rotary as the spouse of a Rotarian, for nearly 30 years. She made lifelong friends and was active in two Bunco groups. Gail was constantly paying it forward--a true selfless person. When Gail’s first grandson, Thomas, was born in 2011, and her second, Knox, in 2013, her focus shifted to her “boys.” Mimi, as she was affectionately called, was at every school function and sporting event and was a very active part of Thomas’s and Knox’s lives. Her grandsons were truly the light of her life.

Surviving with her husband are her two daughters, Heather Ann DeLashmutt along with her husband Ryan and son Knox, and Heidi Ann Idoux along with her husband Matthew and son Thomas. In addition, Gail is survived by her 6 siblings and their spouses, her brother- and sister-in-law, many beloved nieces and nephews, and even her first great niece.
