Born in Edgbaston, England, June became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1964. She received a BA in Environmental Design from San Diego State University which informed her work designing residential interiors and her lifelong passion for art. June was an active part of the Hacienda Carmel Art Group where she shared studio space and worked collaboratively as co- and chair organizing outings, workshops, and staging art exhibitions.
June joined the Monterey Bay Zen Center after being introduced to Buddhism at Tassajara in Big Sur. She served as a board member of the Zen Center until her passing. Moreover, June was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and colleague who touched many with her open heart, generosity, wit, style, and good humor.
June was preceded in death by her husband LCRD John R. Poe (1970) and son Mark R. Poe (2020) and is survived and deeply missed by her brother John Neal, daughters Tracy Tope and Linda Waterfield, and partner David White.
