Born in 1932 in San Francisco she raised her family in Santa Clara and moved to Santa Cruz 30 years ago.
Mickey lived a remarkable life defined by her strength, independence, and passion for family, generosity, innovation, and community. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kris. She was the proud mother of three children: Kathy (Flair), Kris (Rick), and Jim (Missy). Her legacy lives on through her four grandchildren — Roshan, Rachael, David, and Derek — and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Charlotte — all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Mickey’s career began at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara when it first opened, where she served as executive secretary to the hospital administrator and later founded and led the volunteer program. Ever ambitious, Mickey went on to become an independent sales representative for major furniture companies, building a thriving career that spanned the Western United States, including Hawaii. Her drive and dedication led to numerous sales records and leadership roles in professional organizations. Always ahead of her time, she developed her own computer program — Sales Fox — to track and measure business performance, becoming an early adopter of computers and new technologies.
Mickey’s zest for life extended far beyond her professional achievements. A passionate golfer, she was a longtime member of the DeLaveaga Ladies Golf Group and proudly served as a scorer for over a decade at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. She achieved the rare feat of three hole-in-ones. Mickey also enjoyed bowling, playing for years on her family team at the Surf Bowl. When she wasn’t golfing or bowling, she could often be found enjoying bingo nights or playing cards with her friends.
A devoted fan of local sports, Mickey rarely missed a home game at the Kaiser Permanente Arena, cheering on the Sea Dubs alongside Kathy, Kris, and Rachael.
Mickey will be remembered for her fearless spirit, warm heart, generosity, and boundless curiosity. She never shied away from new experiences or the latest gadgets — often having more than one of anything she liked. Her energy, humor, and love of life touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
