Nikolaus "Nik" Hildebrand of Santa Cruz, California passed away on October 20, 2022 at the age of thirty-one. He was born on July 4th, 1991 in Turlock, California, grew up in Hilmar and Turlock, California, and moved to Santa Cruz, California in 2013.
He transferred from Modesto Junior College to the University of California, Santa Cruz where he received his Bachelor's in Philosophy in 2015. After graduating, he worked as a Network Analyst Engineer at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
He was actively involved in various socially conscious advocacy groups, including those that supported the housing and food insecure, labor unions, renters rights, and harm reduction.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by Andromeda "Andra" Scheller, their cat Yoda, mother Elaine Hildebrand, siblings Nathan Hildebrand and Cale Henderson, father Andrew Hildebrand, and his many cousins, coworkers, and friends.
He enjoyed repairing and building things for friends and family, cooking, gardening, 3D printing, hiking, riding his motorcycle and bicycle, working on Hondas, attending metal shows, and lengthy political and philosophical discussions.
