Robert, Bob, was the son of Robert W. and Grace (Patrick) Moran of Norwich, CT.Bob grew up in Preston, Connecticut and has lived in Santa Cruz since 1979. He attended schools in Preston and was a star athlete. He enjoyed playing on numerous local football or baseball teams throughout his life. No one was faster than Bob. His lifelong passion for the Boston Red Sox brought him great sorrow and great joy.
Growing up on Avery Pond he began his life as a waterman, skills he carried with him while bodysurfing at Quonochontaug, Rhode Island, and the shore break at 13th Avenue in Santa Cruz.
Bob began his working career by planting, pruning, picking (and throwing) tomatoes on Lopresti's Farm in Preston, Ct. His work ethic led him to many jobs and he ended his career as a salesman for Built-in Distributors first in Santa Cruz, then Seaside. He excelled there because he knew his products, more importantly, he knew people. He went out of his way to help customers as evidenced by thank you notes found in his personal effects. His career for BID spanned nearly two decades.
He enjoyed seven wonderful years with his wife, Lori. He will be missed by his three children: Michael Patrick, Terra and Jana. His siblings Richard Patrick Moran (wife Chris), Kathryn Grace Hyde (husband Harry), and Philip Arthur Moran (wife Pam) are left with a hole in their hearts. Grandchildren Amelie, Mara, and Aleigha. Nephew David, and nieces, Tammy, Lauren, and Shannon.
Bob was a man whom it was a privilege and pleasure to know. He had a strong faith in God and a heart of goodness. His essence will live on as an organ donor, saving people he never even knew. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
