Roy was born on June 26th, 1935, in Selma, California to Roy Sr. and Mildred Baehr. He graduated from Parlier High School in 1953, from Fresno State College in 1958, and in 1964 from Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. Roy was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1958, stationed at Fort McPherson in Atlanta Georgia, and was honorably discharged in 1960. Roy passed the California Bar Exam in 1972 and began his career as a Deputy District Attorney in Fresno. After leaving the District Attorney’s office he joined the law firm of Hanna & Brophy in Fresno and retired in 2014 as the managing partner of the Bakersfield office.
Roy met the love of his life Shirley Pearson while in high school and the two married in 1955. They became parents to two daughters while attending law school. Roy is survived by his wife of 68 years Shirley, their daughters Stacy and Suzanne, sister-in-law Betty Baehr, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Phyllis and Beverly, brother Frank (Butch), and sister-in-law Joyce Reinero.
Roy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, playing cards, cooking traditional Italian meals, and travelling by RV to National Parks, Yellowstone being his favorite. He was also a committed member of his church where he served as a greeter and assisted his wife in the children’s Sunday School program for many years.
