Shirley Carole Baehr

Shirley was born in Fresno, California on April 28, 1935, to Carl and Helen Pearson. She graduated from Fresno High School in 1953. After high school Shirley worked for Pacific Telephone Company in Fresno transferring to Atlanta, Georgia when her husband Roy was drafted by the Army in 1958. She continued working for Pacific Telephone Company in San Francisco until 1962 while Roy attended law school. After returning to Fresno and starting a family, she worked part-time as a 2nd grade teacher’s aide at Slater Elementary School for several years. She was also a dedicated Sunday School teacher in Fresno and Bakersfield for more than 50 years. Shirley served as a Bible Study Fellowship leader in Bakersfield for over 25 years.

Shirley married the love of her life Roy Baehr in 1955. She is survived by her daughters Stacy and Suzanne, sister-in-law Betty Baehr, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, sister Joyce Reinero, and brothers-in-law Frank (Butch) Baehr and Don Reinero.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading novels, playing samba, and bunco with close friends. Outside the love she had for friends and family, her passion was teaching the love of Jesus Christ to Sunday school children and studying the bible in Bible Study Fellowship. Shirley was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who actively participated in her daughter’s lives by supporting school activities, being in the PTA, and driving them to dancing lessons, choir practices, piano lessons, and sports. She never missed a recital, school activity, sports event, or band performance.

A celebration of life will be held September 14th at 1 pm at the Resurrection Church (main sanctuary) located on 48 Manor Drive, Bakersfield, Ca. She will be greatly missed by all those who enjoyed her spending time with her
