He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967, and retired in 1987 as a First Sergeant (1SG, E-8) after 20 years of service. He was stationed in Thailand, Fort Ord, Japan, and Fort Ord again during his military career. He then worked in Civil Services at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) for the next 17 years, before retiring.
Tom enjoyed, among other things, frequenting local restaurants, watching SF Giants games, and his Starbucks coffee.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, and is survived by his wife, Kosum, and sons, Thana and Tommy, his siblings, Rena, Annie, Tim, and Mike, as well as nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses, doctors and staff of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
As per Thomas’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. He will be laid to rest at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside, CA.
“We will always carry your memory in our hearts.”
