Frances McFarland 1925 – 2017 Frances McFarland passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2017, with family by her side. She was born to Frank Becker and Lola Emerson on January 23, 1925, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Late sisters were Donnie May Meredith and Mary Anne Turner. Deceased husband Bill Sullivan, surviving children are Michael Sullivan and Joanne Reidt. Deceased husband Ezekiel McFarland, surviving children are Jim McFarland, Jerry McFarland, Jamie Hodge, Lola Huras and Beverly Beckwith. She was grandmother to seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Frances' love for children, her own and others,’ always shined through. As a volunteer parent for the Concord Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps, Majorettes, and Drum and Bell Corps, she was always there when water was needed or a kind word like: “You did a good performance!” which was followed with that sweet smile. You could always count on good southern cooking ready to eat and a warm bed or couch if need be. Her comforting smile put everyone in her midst at ease. Frances had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. “I love you, a bushel and a peck” and “You are my sunshine” were favorites during her life and later in life during our visits to her. For the last 46 years Frances had a special bond with Nanci McFarland, her daughter-in-law and later in life, her primary care giver. You were her sunshine. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Stonebrook Healthcare Center in Concord for her care over the last 8 years and in her final days. A private sea-side ceremony will be held in her honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or 1-800-DIABETES (1-800-342-2383) Condolences may be left in Frances' online guest book.
