Went to her heavenly home of natural causes on April 10, 2023. Jovita was born on February 15, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas. She was the daughter of Miceala and Raymundo Balderas, cared for by Santiago and Isabel Balderas. Jovita was and will forever be remembered as an amazing Grandma, sister and mother. Jovita enjoyed many activities as well as sharing and passing them on to her grandchildren such as baking, cooking, sewing and gardening. From enjoying family picnics to showing the importance of everyday moments she was ready and willing to always dance, mend a costume, or just be a nurturing, instructive, reassuring caregiver to many. Jovita is in the arms of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ and followed in the path of many saints such as Mary, Peter, Augustine and Francis. Jovita is survived by her children “Kiko”Fancisco Martinez (Suzanna) of Merced, CA, Jessica Martinez Manzo (Hugo) of Bogalusa, LA. and Jimmy Rosas (Stephanie) of San Antonio, TX., by her sisters Socorro Balderas, Juanita Balderas, Rosie Barrera and Elida Clark (Mike), her grandchildren. Jasmine Fierro (Reginald) of San Leandro, CA. Maricruz Martinez, Emma Reyes, Sergio Reyes of Oakland CA. Desiree Barber (Russell) of Bogalusa, Gabbie Pierce of Covington, LA. Julian and Kristopher Martinez of Merced, CA. Jesse Rosas of Albuquerque, NM. Cassandra Rosas, Rebekah Rosas, and Clarissa Rosas of San Antonio, TX. Jovita was also so blessed to meet her great grandchildren: Able Meza, Jaiden Rivas, Claudia Barber, Maxine Barber, Gia Rivas, Russell Wayne Barber Jr. Jovita is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews all from Texas. Jovita was preceded in death by her daughter Maria Reyes and her son in law Carlos Reyes, her grandsons Dimas Esai Rosas and Robert Shaquille Pierce, and her parents Miceala and Raymundo Balderas as well as her grandparents Santiago and Isabel Balderas also by sisters and brothers Andrea, Raymundo, Albino, Porfirio Balderas, Beatrice Bernal and George Garcia. She will be especially missed by her special friend Martin Mendoza and best friend Bernice. Arrangements have been entrusted unto her children. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at San Fernando Cemetery II beginning at 11:00 am. Her son Jimmy Rosas will share a few scriptures and prayers.
