Patricia was born in Miami, Florida on July 27, 1932 to Carl and Hazel Green. She was the third in line of an older brother and between two sisters. The close family lived in Pensacola, then Coral Gables until they moved to California in 1935, when Pan American Airways opened the Pacific-Alaskan division on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay. The family lived in Oakland, Alameda, and Atherton.
Patricia graduated in the Class of 1950 at Sequoia High School in Redwood City. She was briefly married after high school and widowed shortly thereafter. In 1956 she married Harold “Hal” Taylor, her husband of 53 years. Hal was a salesman and Patricia focused on their home and growing family. They lived in Mountain View and Monte Sereno, developing deep roots in the Los Gatos area. Hal passed away in 2009.
Patricia is survived by her three sons and their families, Jeffery (Maria), William (Christine), and Matthew (Janice). She adored her grandchildren Steven, Olivia, Michael, Julia and Kiara.
Patricia was both elegant and strong; blessed with a twinkle in her eye, movie star looks, a contagious smile and wonderful sense of humor. Equally at home in eveningwear at a cocktail party or on horseback in the Sierras. She was happy and fun. She brought her southern charm with her wherever she went and made friends easily.
Pat made the best of every situation, but perhaps her favorite period of time was when living in Monte Sereno while their sons were of high school and college age. She was “mom” to not only her boys, but to scores of their friends. She always had what they needed, home-made cookies, a wise word, or just an ear. These friendships have lasted a lifetime and brought her much joy.
She loved cooking, gardening and entertaining. Often combining all three for gatherings of family and friends for parties at their homes.
Service to others was her calling. She was sacrificially caring, made people feel welcome, and offered unconditional love. Over the years she held key positions with several service organizations in the area including: The Good Samaritan League, The Summit League, the Montalvo Association, and she volunteered at St. Andrews Church.
Patricia had a great eye for style. She earned her ASID as a local community college in her 50s and was an interior designer for many years specializing in fine homes and medical offices.
In Elk Grove, she and her sisters opened a shop like no other called “My Sister’s Garden”. A magical space full of interesting and wonderful items for home and garden. As widows, the sisters continued to live together in Elk Grove until their passing and Patricia moved to Santa Cruz to be closer to her family.
She lived and loved well. A faithful believer in Jesus Christ, she is now in heaven.
