Santo Anthony LaRussa

Sonny was born on November 7, 1942, to Ciro & Frances Castellano LaRussa. He was raised and lived much of his life in West Tampa, attending St. Joseph’s School and graduating from Jesuit High School, Class of 1960. He worked for Delta Airlines for 18 years.

Sonny is survived by children Anthony LaRussa and Christina LaRussa Calero; grandchildren Joshua and Joseph Calero; Hayley LaRussa Camara (Diego) & Christopher LaRussa; great grandchild Banks LaRussa Camara; brother Augustine “Gus” LaRussa; sister Jeanette LaRussa Fenton, and extended family. He was preceded in death by sons Christopher and Mark LaRussa, parents Ciro LaRussa & Frances LaRussa Canto, grandparents Santo & Vincenza Cacciatore LaRussa and Augustino & Rosalia Giglio Castellano.

Sonny resided in San Clemente, California for the last 6 years. He lived life on his own terms and always did it his way. He had a brilliant mind, an offbeat sense of humor, and loved a good argument and debate. He was ahead of his time, embracing fitness, natural remedies and wellness practices before they were mainstream. In later years he became an avid golfer.

Sonny was a generous soul, a friend to many and one of a kind. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by family and all who knew him. Rest in peace until we meet again.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2-4 p.m. at Cohatch West Tampa, 2130 W. Main St. Parking on east side of building and on street.
