Susan McGill, 82, of Laguna Beach, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born in Cheshire, Connecticut, she later moved to California, where she met the love of her life, Rocky. They were married 61 years and built a life filled with love, adventure, and family.
Susan dedicated more than 26 years to education as a teacher, principal, and Assistant Superintendent with the Capistrano Unified School District, touching countless lives with her warmth and encouragement.
A member of Laguna Presbyterian Church since 1995, she served as a deacon, elder, and MomCo mentor mom, and on various committees and boards. She was also a proud and active member of P.E.O. Her compassion and faith touched everyone around her.
Susan loved gardening, traveling, and camping and fishing at Huntington Lake. She made every day meaningful—always curious, grateful, and full of love.
She is survived by her husband, Rocky McGill; daughter, Holly Andersen, and her husband, Mark; son, Mike McGill, and his wife, Luci; five grandchildren including Blake Andersen and his wife, Catherine; Ryan Andersen; Kirsten Laramie and her husband, Mike; Jake McGill; and Madison McGill; great-grandson, A.J. Laramie; sisters, Claire Towle and Sandy Cahill; and many nieces and nephews.
Susan will forever be remembered for her laughter, love, and unwavering faith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Avenue, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church in her memory.
