The family of Ernest E. Reeves MD is saddened to announce his passing on September 9, 2021 at the age of 75. Ernest and his identical twin brother Earle were born to Edward and Bernice Woods Reeves on January 9, 1946 in Webster Groves, MO.
Ernest began his education at Douglas Elementary and graduated from Webster Groves high school in 1964. After high school he began his secondary education at Harris Stowe Teachers College in St. Louis, MO, before moving to CaIifornia where he continued his studies at California State University, Los Angeles. Ernest completed his education at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine.
Upon completing his medical studies, Ernest served in the United States Air Force as an OB/GYN and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Upon retirement from the USAF, he continued his medical career with the California State Department of Corrections at the women’s prison in Chowchilla, CA until his second retirement.
Ernest met and married Helen Branch in June 1970. The two remained together for 7 years before ending their union amicably.
“Doc” Reeves was exceedingly generous to all who knew him and enjoyed helping family, friends, and at times acquaintances who found themselves in need. He regularly supported numerous charities and fiercely fought for anyone he felt needed his advocacy. He will be sorely missed.
Ernest was preceded in death by both parents, his twin, Earle E. Reeves and younger brother Robert “Bobby” Reeves. He is survived by his sisters Beverly Reeves Jackson and Linda Reeves; beloved Aunt Olivette Woods Thompson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and loved ones.
Lieutenant Colonel Ernest E. Reeves MD will be interred in a private service and laid to rest with full honors alongside his twin at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. The service will be preserved on video and included in a future virtual memorial service.
