Kentucky born and raised, Harry Bourke Owens lived fully July 6, 1942 - April 29, 2026. He passed peacefully feeling his family’s devotion. His parents were Richard Dale Owens and Louise Reeves Owens and he was the youngest of four brothers Albert, Gene, and Tom. Bourke excelled as an athlete in basketball and went on to use perseverance, determination and pure grit to move his young family across the country to the wilds of Southeast Alaska where they loved nature and he broke the chains of poverty working with dynamite and drilling rock. Bourke explored many areas with curiosity, intuition, and a strong will such as cattle ranching, insurance brokering, and contributing positively to the people fortunate enough to know him. He loved his wife Connie Menard and also enjoyed life with his late wife Diana Poff and the mother of his children Susan Lawson. His children Melinda Owens (Mike), Ashley Owens & Peggy Owens will do more than survive him fueled by their deep connection with him and the wisdom he shared. He is also survived by beloved sister in law Margi White and grandchildren Christina MacDonald (Megan), Christopher Brown (Grant), Amanda McCroskey (Brian and great grandchildren Colton and Riley) Megan Pelafox (Vanessa and great grandchildren Antonio, Edwin, and Vida), and Justin Bourke Dourte (Jordan and great grandchild Miles). As Dad would say “go big or go home.” He did both by living big and now going home.
