Mary Maldonado Herrera passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026 at the age of 81, leaving behind a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, partner, sister, aunt, and a wonderful friend to many—especially her dear neighbors in the Wood Streets community.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Herrera, and her daughter, Cathy Herrera, both of whom she held close in her heart throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving children, Peter Herrera, Louis Herrera, and Arlene Herrera; and her cherished grandchildren, Mario Velasquez, Marques Johnson, and David Herrera, who brought her great pride and joy. Her legacy lives on through her family and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and warm spirit.
Mary was proud of her strong work ethic and long career. She worked for 15 years at the very first Naugles Restaurant, where she formed lasting friendships, and later served the community through her work with the County of Riverside Auditor Controller’s Office for 10 years before retiring.
In her retirement, Mary embraced the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She loved traveling and camping in the family trailer, fishing in the desert, and visiting casinos along the way. One of her favorite pastimes was going to yard sales with her son, Peter—or hosting her own—always enjoying the thrill of finding treasures and visiting with friends and neighbors.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will remain forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
