Heaven gained an extraordinary angel when Pat Dagenais, 80, passed away peacefully in the presence of loving family at her home in Chino Hills, California. Pat’s legacy is one of brightening the lives of others with her generosity, kindness and enthusiasm.
Born to a US Air Force family in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Pat joined parents Charles and Sara Bihl and her older sister Liz. Growing up, the family moved several times as Charles was stationed in new places, including Missouri, Texas, Africa, and California. She graduated from high school in Morocco. Pat met Kenneth Dagenais, the man who captured her heart, at an Air Force function. In 1966, Pat and Ken married and made their home in Riverside, California. They were excited to welcome their daughter Debi two years later.
Pat worked in retail sales and management for over thirty years. Ready for a new challenge, at age 50, she attended Riverside Community College to earn her Early Childhood Certificate. She found rewarding positions as a volunteer at Head Start and later worked at Norte Vista High School as an aide with autistic teenagers.
Pat was a classy lady, always meticulous about her appearance and attire. She was fun, laughed easily, and just loved to have a good time. She especially enjoyed live music events, movies, dining out, and visiting family. Pat and Debi were the dynamic duo of adventure, keeping quite busy with their many outings and detailed holiday decorating.
Pat’s family has so many memories of meaningful times spent together. She is survived by her daughter Debi, sister Liz, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Isidro, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and one “great-great” on the way!
For over a decade, Pat lived at Chino Hills Senior Living, where she received wonderful care from many special staff members - Vida, Tera, Sabrina (Itsy Bitsy), Alahandra (Joey), Joseph, Diamond, Marissa, Jordan, Bianca, Jackie, Lisa, Alexia, and Executive Director Julie. One of Pat’s favorite things to do at Chino Hills was share snacks and drinks with the staff to show her appreciation.
