Priscilla Dianne Cancelmo (Mattingly), of Rancho Cucamonga, California, departed this life on August 17, 2024, at the venerable age of 81. Born on the fourteenth of July in the year 1943 in the town of Scituate, Massachusetts, she embodied the virtues of grace and devotion throughout her time on earth.
Educated with distinction, she emerged from the University of Connecticut with honors, bearing a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Her professional life was a testament to her dedication to the well-being of children with special needs in New York, and later, as a Resource Specialist Program tutor in San Bernardino County, California.
Priscilla's home was a haven of love and laughter, with her quick wit and endearing "Gram quips" brightening the lives of all who knew her. She found solace and joy in the delicate crafts of needlepoint, crochet, and knitting, creating lasting treasures with each stitch.
A patron of literature, Priscilla delighted in the suspense of English mysteries and the triumphs of her favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and the college basketball teams of Kentucky and UConn. Her pizza dough and Thanksgiving dinner talents were legendary, as well as her Kentucky Derby punch, which became a beloved fixture at the annual family gatherings.
A woman of unwavering faith, Priscilla's nightly prayers were a reflection of her gratitude for life's blessings and her devotion to her loved ones and the Almighty.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Cancelmo; her daughter, Stephanie Cancelmo Thompson; Stephanie's boyfriend, Dave Martin; her grandsons, Spencer Scott Thompson and Simon Christopher Thompson; her granddaughter-in-law, Katie Thompson; her constant companion, Best Yorkie- Eli Cancelmo; and her cousins, Pauline McConathy Ayres and Gary Ayres. Priscilla was preceded in death by her parents, Priscilla and Spencer Edward Mattingly, and is fondly remembered by numerous relatives from Kentucky.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Lynn Baker of Smart Choice in Home Care and the staff at Med Plus Hospice Care for their compassionate support, as well as the many friends and family members who have provided comfort during this time.
A private memorial service will be held on September 7, 2024, at the family residence to honor Priscilla's life. The family invites those who wish to offer condolences to do so through written messages, which will be cherished and shared during the service or may be sent to the home of Stephanie. An official Celebration of Life to be held in a years time. All will be invited.
Priscilla Dianne Cancelmo's legacy of kindness, humor, and love will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace, her memory a guiding light to all who carry her spirit in their hearts.
