Ron was born November 14, 1937, the only son of Auva and Flora (Moody) Workman, in Gilmer County, West Virginia. He married the love of his life, Patricia Berkstresser on September 5,1970. They shared 50 wonderful years together.
In 1955 Ron graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School, Nutter Fort, West Virginia. He was a member of the R-W football team. He also played softball for local community and church organizations. Ron was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corp. in 1956.
Later he moved to Ohio and began his lifetime career with Kroger Co. in Akron. Starting out packing grocery bags, Ron was quickly promoted to Cashier, Head Cashier, Assistant Manager and finally to Store Manager. When he retired in 1989, he was ‘the fixer’ always sent to fix the stores in trouble and return them to profitability. He managed stores in Bay Village, OH; Meadville, PA; and Dallas-Fort Worth, TX
After retiring, Ron and Pat traveled across the United States in their RV. He was the Wagon Master of their RV club, North Texas Allegro Open Road, for several years and enjoyed making the travel and dining arrangements for each destination. After traveling throughout the United States for several years, which included stops in PA, TX and WV to visit family and friends, he and Pat settled in Cathedral City, CA. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Cathedral City for the last 25 years. He was active in the church, serving as a sacrosanct and introducing the Divine Mercy Novena and Chaplet Program to St. Louis parishioners.
Ron is survived by his sisters, Shirley Burrows, Winchester, VA; Verna George, Transfer, PA; and Nancy (Jim) Gallo, Clarksburg, WV.
