Theodore Alphonso Wright, Jr. (Teddy) 69, passed away due to natural causes at his home in San Bernardino, California on July 21, 2017. Teddy was born in Petersburg, Va. on September 24, 1947 to the late Theodore A. Wright, Sr. and Eudora H. Wright.
He lived most of his early childhood and young adult years in Princeton and Lawrenceville, N.J., attending the Princeton public schools, graduating from Princeton High School 1965, and began his college studies at Hampton University, Virginia Union University, University of Maryland, Rutgers University and California State University, San Bernardino, California, from which he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He recently studied advanced photography at the Academy of Arts University.
Teddy enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, was honorably discharged after serving 8 yrs., with 3 yrs. duty in England, 1 yr. in New Mexico, 3 yrs. in California and 1 yr. in Thailand, successively as Staff Sergeant. His service ended abruptly with a sustained injury. He subsequently retired in 2009 as a Senior Claims Adjuster for the State of California.
After his marriage in 1969 to Renee A. Jones and their move to California, he converted his Episcopal Church membership to join the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in San Bernardino. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and Elks Lodge # 836.
Teddy loved nature and wildlife, visiting historic sites on the East and West coast and the many places he traveled, using his photography skills to build fascinating albums. An avid reader of historical and science fiction, listening to music of the seventies-James Brown and Jimi Hendrix. Sharing with many Facebook friends, and liked many sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles.
His survivors include his two daughters: Tahira Wright-Mack of Jersey City, N.J., Zyanya A. Wright of Newark, N.J.; his mother, Eudora H. Wright of Lawrenceville, N.J.; three grandchildren: Xavier L. Mack, Wynter-Eudora Antoinette Mack and Amoura Renee Robinson; one sister, Barbara J. Howard (M. William) of Lawrenceville, N.J.; two aunts, one niece and two nephews, several cousins and many, many friends.
Though born on the East Coast, he lived most of his life in Southern California, a place he loved and enjoyed.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, California, Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at 12:15 pm.
