The family of George Walter Parsons is sad to announce his passing, on July 29, 2025, at the age of 92, following a short illness. George was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Barbara.
George was born and raised in San Francisco. After serving in the Navy, and attending the College of San Mateo, he married Barbara in 1957 and moved to Burlingame to raise their family. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and built Garvey Sheet Metal into a successful heating and air conditioning business with his brother Bob. He believed real estate was a good investment and managed more than a few properties over the years. Upon retirement, George and Barbara moved to Sonora into their custom built house large enough for the whole family to come and stay. Several years after Barbara’s passing, George renewed his friendship with Lorraine and they became instant travel companions. Their affection and care for each other was obvious and Lorraine became family to us all. George was a lifelong fan of the SF 49ers and the SF Giants. He enjoyed fishing trips with his friends, playing golf and more so lately, playing Bingo with family and friends at the local Moose Lodge, Elks Club or Rancho Cordova Senior Center.
George is survived by his four children, George (Dana), Janette (Chris), Diane (Dennis), Paul (Julie), and eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. George was happiest when surrounded by family and often told us that “family was the most important thing”. He loved storytelling, and enjoyed a good story. He had the sharpest memory of any one of us! He had a great sense of humor and infectious smile. He made friends easily; always interested in what others were up to. He was always generous with his time and his advice, and often paid the tab no matter the size of the party. Our dad George, was loved dearly, and we will miss him everyday.
