Paul Andrew Evans, (Beeper), of Roseville CA, passed away on January 18, 2025, at age 69, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather who treasured his family. Paul was a kindhearted and joyful man, always ready with a smile or a joke to brighten the day of those around him.
Paul and his loving wife of 24 years, Kelly Sparks, created a beautiful, blended family.
Born in Chico, California Paul was the beloved son of Elizabeth Ann and Dr. Frederick Leonard Evans. He was the fifth of ten children and grew up surrounded by the love of a large family.
Paul’s career as an Electrodiagnostic Technician, made a lasting impact at Feather River Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Kaiser Hospital Stockton, and Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. His colleagues knew him for his ready smile, infectious good nature, and unwavering compassion for the patients he served.
Following an early retirement due to his health, Paul remained active as an avid fisherman. He spent countless hours on the water with his best friend and fishing buddy, Gene Smith. Fishing brought him peace and happiness. The memories he made with Gene and others on the water will be cherished forever. Paul loved being outside in the garden. He and Kelly created and nourished a beautiful home garden, which hosted cherished family gatherings.
Paul and Kelly were married in Red Bluff in 2000, blending Paul’s daughters, Hannah Evans of Oregon, and Bethany Evans-Hanson of Lincoln, California; and Kelly’s sons, Rodney Sparks and wife Jennifer of Roseville, California, and Joseph “Joey” Sparks of Chico, California.
Paul’s blended family blessed them with ten grandchildren: Analise Hanson, Isabelle Sparks, Evan Woods, Riley Sparks, Kaden Butts, Jack Hanson, Violet Johnson, Kate Hanson, Hunter Sparks, and Julia Fong. He cherished every moment with them.
He is survived by his five sisters and four brothers: Laura Bailey, Tom Evans (Janice), John Evans (Darlene), James Evans, Robert (R.B.) Evans, Mary Osborne, Jane Sinclair (Greg), Kathrine (Tinker) (Brett Storm, and Martha (Molly) (Dr. Stan Wright). Paul was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his kindness and humor.
Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff, CA, on February 24th at 11:00 AM..
