Warren is preceded in death by his parents, Lilly and Earl Hibbs and his first wife, Linda Hibbs. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Susan Hibbs, his sister, Sharon Moll, his brother, Steven Hibbs, two step-sons and three step-grandsons.
Warren was born in Los Angeles. He graduated high school from Lynwood Academy and remained in Southern California where he worked, surfed and really loved the ocean. Warren joined the U.S. Army and was a Medic in the 1st Cavalry Division in the Vietnam War where the troops called him “Doc.” He received a Purple Heart in March 1968.
Warren attended La Sierra College and CSU Long Beach in Southern California and went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in psychology at CSU Sacramento. Most of his career was spent as a probation officer, working with juveniles and then adults. He retired from the Santa Cruz Probation Department in 2003 and became a permanent resident of Mountain Ranch in 2008.
Throughout his life, Warren especially loved the outdoors and enjoyed bicycling, gardening, hiking, traveling, camping with friends and family, and backpacking with his three step-grandsons, Kyle, Gage and Kai. He loved the mountains and the beach. Warren was a gentle soul who thrived on visiting with friends and family. He demonstrated hard work, wisdom, honesty and especially living, laughing, and loving in a very graceful and positive manner.
Warren was in the care of the VA and the loving care of Hospice of Amador and Calaveras the final two weeks of his life. A celebration of life will be arranged in early 2025.
