
Dr. John N. Arrington’s life began October 22, 1939 in Laurel, MS. To the late Nathan and Laurelia Arrington. He was the third Child of five. On November 29, 1999, he married the love of his life Bernice Milton Berry of East Chicago, in. To this union there were four children for which he adored.
On Saturday August 24, 2024, John completed his final chapter in his earthly life. John accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Laurel, Ms. He attended Mt. Olive Community School from Elementary thru High School where he graduated with the class of 1959. After which he attended Tuskegee Institute where he graduate in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1967, he attended Howard University Law School; in 1974, he graduated from San Diego State University with a Doctorate degree in Education and Human behavior. In 1963, he joined the U. S. Army where he served honorable for three years. While in the Army he joined the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity where he served for 57 years a lifetime member until he transitioned to his Heavenly home.
Dr. Arrington to San Diego July 10, 1969 after being recruited by SDUSD to teach at the secondary level. He was assigned to Gompers where he taught until 1972, he then became a counselor and then District counselor at Lincoln High School where he stayed until 1982 he was then promoted to Principals of Twain Sir High until he retired. He joined Omega Fraternity 1966, The Southeast Kiwanis Club in 1982 where he served until his health failed.
Dr. Arrington was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Lurelia Arrington, Brother James E Arrington, Sister Katy R Buxton and Jessie P Campbell.
John is survived by His loving and devoted wife Bernice from 54 years, Daughter Pamela M Berry of East Chicago, In. Sons, Darryl E Arrington (Cecelia) Arrington of Upper Marlboro, Md. Rusty Berry of San Ysidro, CA. Jonathan (Kerry) Arrington of Dallas, TX.. Four grandchildren Myles (Carmen) of Davis, CA Courtney and Charity Arrington of Upper Marlboro, MD and Zariah Arrington of Dallas, TX. Loving Sister Annie N Arrington and host of nieces and nephews Relatives and friends. Sister in Law Frances Shelby.
