Melinda “Mindy” Ann Files (July 5, 1954 - January 19, 2025) passed away with her family by her side, sharing stories of her antics and bold personality. Mindy grew up in El Cajon and Del Mar and spent many summers water skiing Lake Arrowhead with family. Mindy is survived by her mother, Rosemarie Frazee and preceded in passing by her father, WR “Bud” Frazee.
In 1979, Mindy and her husband of 48 years, Bryan, moved to Ramona. Mindy was known as many things, a PTA president, Team Mom and volunteer for many Ramona youth sports , the one who made the best team banners, Montessori teacher to so many Ramona children, the woman everyone knew or at least everyone wanted to say they knew. She was an integral part of building the PTA and planning school functions when James Dukes Elementary opened. She brought her personality and spark as emcee of the Country Estates 4th of July parade for more than 20 years. Of the 22 years teaching the children at Montessori Children’s House and Elementary schools, she most loved sharing her creative side through Monart lessons and giving life to children’s literature.
Above all, Mindy’s essence was family. She became all of these things because nothing was more important than being a daughter, a wife, a mother and a best friend. Mindy and Bryan have 5 children and in laws, 14 grandchildren, 3 grandchildren in-law, and 4 great grandchildren. She would be the first to list off her children’s accomplishments - 12 college degrees, successful careers including a Lieutenant Colonel, loving families of their own - but what she wouldn’t say is that none of this was accomplished without her persistent guidance, support, and her example of never-ending love.
