Michael Donn Conway Sr. of Encinitas, California passed away on August 19th, 2024, just shy of his 79th birthday. He was born on August 24th, 1945, in Bakersfield, California. As part of a military family, he had lived in Texas, Louisiana, Alaska, California, then ultimately the family resided in Bountiful, Utah. Michael grew up along with his two younger sisters. He then made the journey to Monterey, California where he started his young adult life attending and graduating from Monterey Peninsula College. Following that he worked for Xerox Corporation where he ultimately became a field engineer and proudly worked for Xerox until he retired.
Michael settled in Encinitas, California where he raised his family and established his home. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Conway who solidified his faith in Jesus. As well as his parents, Fred T. Conway and Esta “Lee” Waite, and his sister Sherry L. Orr.
He is survived by his children, Becca Schiebergen (Shon), Michael Conway (Sara), and Deanna Thompson (Dale). As well as his grandchildren Noah, Kaylee, David, Isaiah, and Kaitlyn. Lastly, his sister Pamela Lundevall (Brent) and his niece Angela Hackwell (Calvin).
The family would like to thank the handful of close friends that kept up with him over the years in person and virtually. His close friend and neighbor Kathy was such a source of peace and laughter for him over the years. He was so proud to be such a longstanding fixture in the neighborhood. Michael was also very grateful for his Xerox crew that would keep tabs on him, especially Brian and TC.
Michael will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. His children were his biggest joy, and he single-handedly raised them for most of their childhood. They take great pride in learning to parent from him and honor him by having careers where they give of themself. Michael always had a silly joke or a good story to tell as well as the most sound, well-timed advice. He was kind, intelligent, and loyal and was happiest in his backyard surrounded by his family and good conversation.
Our family is having a private service and have appreciated all the prayers and outpouring of memories. It is celebration for us to know he is now with Jesus and free of his broken body.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to Teen Challenge of San Diego at givetc.org/sd and leave his name in the comment or the MS Society.
