

Wayne Douglass Moore passed away on November 14, 2025, in his home in San Diego, California at the age of 87. He was born on March 8, 1938, to Gordon and Edna Moore in Alexandria, Virginia. Wayne spent his formative years in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
In October 1955 Wayne began a distinguished career in the United States Navy. He served for 29 years as a Radioman, dedicating himself to the service of his country. Tours included Panama, Rhode Island where he was deployed to the Antarctica, USS LEARY (DD 879), Hawaii, Guam, and three tours in Washington, D.C. In July 1984, Wayne completed his career as the first Force Master Chief of Commander, Naval Telecommunications Command in Washington, DC, a significant and honorable achievement that marked his commitment and leadership.
Wayne married Linda (Roes) Revell on April 30, 1983, at the Navy Chapel in Washington, DC. He was known as a very supportive and devoted husband.
Wayne possessed a remarkable gift for delighting children, captivating them with his magic tricks, clever riddles, and lighthearted jokes. His playful spirit and sense of humor created countless memories for his grand and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his entertaining talents, Wayne was known for his exceptional ability to plan memorable trips. He and Linda shared a passion for travel, and together they embarked on numerous cross-country adventures and several cruises.
Wayne is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Virginia Moore, and sons Randy (Cindy) Moore and Michael Moore. He is also survived by his stepson Steve (Jennifer) McCarty, grandchildren Adam (Lexie) Moore, Amanda (Scott) Doud, Nathan Moore, Jarrett Moore, Jenna Crouse, Malia Lazara and step-grandchildren Connor and Evelynn McCarty. His great-grandchildren include Austin Moore, Mia Lake, Callie Lake, Dominic and Juliet Doud, and Emily Crouse. He is also survived by his brothers Gordon Moore, Jeff Boisseau (Debbie), sisters Von Boisseau and Melody Cash. Sister’s-in-law Barbara (Bob) Yates, Marcella (Kelly) Werkele and brother-in-law Richard (Mary) Roes, as well as various nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Joann and Carolyn, and granddaughter Maureena Moore.
Family and friends are invited to attend services at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to your favorite charity in Wayne’s memory.
