

Frank D. Thomas of Fresno, California passed away January 18, 2026 at the age of 89. He was born on August 27, 1936 in Ogden, Utah and grew up in Layton, Utah.
He graduated from high school in Mount Vernon, Missouri serving as Student Body President and lettering in 3 sports. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Pharmacy in 1959. He then served two years in the military as a Navy Lt.j.g in Yokosuka, Japan. He earned a MD degree from the University of Missouri in 1965 and graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Internal Medicine with a specialty in Nephrology in 1969. He was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1971, Board Certified in Nephrology in 1976 and a Fellow American College of Physicians from 1976-2006.
He worked as a physician practicing Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Corvallis Clinic, Corvallis, Oregon for 37 years.
He served as President Benton County Medical Association in 1982, Chairman of the Board of the Corvallis Clinic 1983, Chief of Medicine Good Samaritan Hospital, Instructor Oregon State University 1970-1998 and Instructor University of Oregon School of Medicine 1970-2000.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary and father Howard.
He is survived by his wife Claire of 66 years, daughters Kristin, Heather, son in-law Brian, granddaughters Hailey, grandson in-law Corbin, Tehya, Torie and Gina, and grandson Benjamin.
Frank had a deep love for his family and was the happiest when we were all together. He treasured his time sailing the San Juan Islands and the British Virgin Islands, golfing and tennis vacations in the Oregon Cascades and life in the Southern California Desert becoming the family’s grill master. He was an avid sports fan leading to the keeper of facts and the sports aficionado. He was also fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends who shared in his joys of life.
Interment will be at the San Joaquin National Cemetery, Santa Nella, California with full Military Honors on the 16th of March, 2026. ‘In his own words, “Don’t weep for me, it has been a good life. Medicine was my mistress, entertainment and privilege to practice and so I bid you adieu.’”
