During his childhood he moved with his parents to California to start a new life. From 1946-47 he served in the Marine Corps, stationed in China, and he served in the Air Force 1951-53. George was a hard and diligent worker and was employed for 33+ years by VA Hospital Fresno, CA, first as a dishwasher, but retiring as Head Cook.
George is preceded in death by his parents George and Edith Tucker, his wives Eva Mae and Ila, sisters Eva Jean, Thelma, Velma, brothers Manford, Charlie, LeeRoy, son Keith, and daughters Reecie and Karen. He will be greatly missed by his son, Steven (Lyn) Tucker; daughter-in-law Gail (Keith’s wife); grandchildren Tami, Brent, Derrick, Kelley, Kent, Dionna, Jason, Kimmie, Christopher, Denise and Heather, Grayce, Crosby; and many great grandchildren. He also leaves behind stepdaughters Mary (Catherine) and Verda (George).
His family were his pride and joy and George got the greatest pleasure taking them to Avocado Lake on weekends where he taught them to swim. He was an accomplished musician and spent many years playing rhythm guitar and being lead singer in a country music band. George was blessed to have been married twice to two wonderful women. George and Eva Mae loved being on a bowling team together, while George and Ila filled their days of retirement traveling across the country in their RV with their dog Coco.
George wasn’t one for pomp and circumstance. He insisted on being cremated with no services. Instead he expressed his desire for his loved ones to remember him as they enjoy life and make memories.
We are beyond grateful for the love, care and respect shown to George in his last days by all who serve at the Nancy Hinds Hospice. Remembrances may be made to: Hinds Hospice, 2490 W. Shaw, Ste 101, Fresno, CA 93711 or by clicking on the link below under Donations.
