Jack Scott Cheney

Jack Scott Cheney of Aptos, CA passed away on Saturday August 29th, 2026 at the age of 82. He was born on October 6, 1943 in Harrisburg, PA where he grew up with his parents and 2 sisters.

Jack graduated from Oakwood High School in 1962 in Oakwood, Ohio. After completing his education he worked as an engineer at various companies including Zilog, Apple and Synopsis. He was most recently actively involved in activities at the local senior center including playing bridge and Bingo.

Jack was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was well known for his fun, unique sense of humor. He lived a great life traveling the world with his beloved Penny. They also enjoyed hosting holiday parties at their home in Los Gatos and spending quality time with the cats they owned over the years. Jack assisted Penny being the master gardner and they really enjoyed being docents at Seacliff State Park. Jack collected pinball machines, slot machines and soda signs. He also loved Halloween and used to create a haunted house in his home in Cupertino for all to go through. He also enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid bridge player.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline, wife Penny and both sisters, Barbara and Nancy.

The family would like to thank all Jack’s caregivers for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.
