James "Jimmy" Edward Brummitt

James Edward “Jimmy” Brummitt, 78, of Santa Cruz, California, passed away on August 30, 2026. Born in Van Nuys, California, on November 1, 1947, Jimmy lived a life grounded in faith, family, service, and laughter.

Jimmy was a proud Vietnam veteran. After returning from Vietnam, he spent much of his life in Southern California, where he enjoyed surfing, motorcycle riding, and the freedom of the open road. He built a long and dedicated career with Xerox, where he worked throughout his professional life.

Those who knew Jimmy will remember his lighthearted nature and his ability to make people laugh. He did not take himself too seriously and brought warmth and humor to the people around him. He loved road trips, riding motorcycles, watching movies, and spending time at church. His Christian faith was the foundation of his life and the source of his greatest pride. He was a member of Twin Lakes Church and lived out his faith in part through his volunteer service with the Red Cross and Driving Angels with Twin Lakes Church.

In July 2000, Jimmy married Sharon, the love of his life. He loved her deeply and treasured the life they built together. Their marriage brought him enduring companionship, strength, and joy, and the love they shared remained at the heart of his life.

Above all, Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Brummitt; his children, Yvonne, Paul, and Mike; his granddaughters, Brooke, Jordan, and Kaitlin; and his brother, Robert. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Mae Brummitt, and his sister, Cheryl Brummitt.

Jimmy will be remembered for his faith, his humor, his adventurous spirit, and the love he shared with his family. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched.

Celebration of Life: Family and friends are invited to gather at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Drive, Aptos, California.
