Joseph David Nunes

Joseph David Nunes, age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on April 2, 1935. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a California Highway Patrolman and eventually retired from AT&T. He loved riding his horses, competing in many events including team penning. Above all else, he loved his family and time spent together.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Lupe Nunes and his children, Jennifer Szyndrowski, Jackie Nielsen, and Joseph Nunes Jr.

Joseph had 4 grandchildren, Samantha Lim, Emily Szyndrowski, DJ Nielson, and Zackery Szyndrowski. He had 4 great grandchildren, Sofia Lim, Amelia Szyndrowski, Madeleine Nielsen, and Christian Szyndrowski.

He shared with his family his wisdom, kindness, sense of humor, and most of all his undying love and commitment to each and every one of them. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration to his family and to those who has the privilege of knowing him.

There will be a mass in his honor on Thursday, 9/24, at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Church in Tres Pinos, CA. A reception will follow.
