Manuel Javier Martinez

Manuel Martinez III, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Cruz, California, on Saturday, August 9th 2025 with his daughter and her fiancé by his side. Born in East Los Angeles, he eventually made Santa Cruz his home, where he raised his family and became a cherished part of the local community.

A devoted father to Joseph, Manny, and Rachel, Manuel was also a guiding presence and father figure to many others. He was known for his generous spirit, his willingness to help those in need, and his unwaveringly positive outlook on life.

A graduate of Loma Prieta High School, Manuel went on to work as a heavy equipment operator before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit and running a successful silk screening business. Outside of work, he found joy in riding his Harley and spending time with friends and family.

Manuel is survived by his brother, Ernesto, and his sister, Mary. Manuel will reunite in heaven with his parents, Manuel Martinez II, Consuelo Martinez, and his son, Manuel Martinez IV.

Manuel’s impact on those around him will not be forgotten. His warmth, wisdom, and strength will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at Harvey West Park, in the Friendship Garden lawn, on September 20th @1pm. Tacos will be provided. Please feel free to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
